A Crazy Week
November 1st,2007
Last week was a crazy week for me. I was having some pain in my right side for four days so I decided to go to the doctor and have it checked. He sent me to have a CT scan. The CT scan ran late and took me right to the time that I was needed at my gym to teach the 5:30pm Group Fit class. The lady at the hospital was kind enough to get me out on time and told me they would call me if anything was found. I made it in time to class and class was a blast as always.
Unfortunately, the battery died on my phone so I was not aware that the hospital and the doctor’s office were both trying to reach me. Small towns are great. The girls that work in my doctor and my chiropractor’s office also take my class so I was not surprised to see Desiree walk into the gym. She works the front desk at that office. I assumed she had come a few minutes early for the 6:15 class. What she said did surprise me. She told me that I had appendicitis and had to go straight to the hospital! I was in shock. The hospital and the doctor’s office had been trying to reach me but my phone was dead. Bad timing for my battery to go out.
The people in my class are so great. Tammy, who takes class every day guided them through the stretching and waited for the next group to arrive to tell them the news. Desiree followed me to my house and drove me to the doctor’s office where Tracey who manages the doctor’s office and also takes my class was. Tracey was kind enough to drive me to the hospital.
I was in the hospital for one full week before they decided to go ahead and remove my appendics. The reason they waited was that my white blood cells never became elevated and my temperature never really got that high. We were waiting to see. Well, I am glad that we went ahead with it because although my appendics were never infected, the were red and inflamed. This could have led to more trouble.
I am now recouperating. It will be tough for me since I am so active, but I will be stronger than I was before. I am planning on it. As I always say you must surround yourself with positive thoughts. Speaking of positive thoughts, Gail Davall of Gaildavall.com brought me a positive meditation CD that I listened to after the surgery. It truly helped me during those difficult times. This week I am back on track, but moving a bit slower. I look forward to getting back to full force soon. I should have more healthy tips, motivational thoughts, healthy recipes and great exercises for you very soon. So keep logging on!
Make this the year.
